I’m a Professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). I’m also a member of the graduate Environmental Applied Science and Management program and an associate of the Centre for Studies in Food Security. My teaching and research focus on the comparative politics, policy and administration of cities, regions, the environment and infrastructure. Geographically, my work has focused on Canada and Africa, but particularly three East African countries: Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

I am on the editorial team of the Canadian Journal of African Studies and the editorial board of the journal Review of Policy Research.

I have served in many university administrative roles, including Department Chair/Head from 2016-2020.

I read, speak and understand French at an advanced level.

I am married to Dr. Pamela Robinson; we have two daughters, and treasure the opportunities to be outside with them. I also seem to have always had a dog or dogs in my life. We have two Barbets, or french water dogs, from Biscay Waterdogs.
